Here is the character profile we have so far for Eleanor our popular girl who is also the final girl:
ELEANOR WILSON
AGED: 18
GENDER: FEMALE
Victim of bullying. Talked down to by biological parents. The unwanted child – abused, neglected by parents and hated by them. Trusts and only loves Hunter, finding out he’s the killer causes her to have a mental breakdown. Very dependent on him. Is constantly worrying about when Hunter will come for her know he will try and kill her now that she knows he is the killer and he knows that she knows. Somewhat double personality. In front of her friends she's Arrogant. Vain. Selfish. Hypocrite. Bitch. Implying that she's brave and is in control. Where in fact she's weak, vulnerable and insecure just like Muley’s Male Gaze. Her image reflects her personality. Old scars from abuse done by mother. Deep scars on forearm from her becoming suicidal and depressed after she finds out what Hunter has done. Occasionally, can be suicidal, tends to be blamed for everything - so she punishes herself.
The title of the film reflects her life implying that she has been both scarred in traumatic events of her life and documenting it by scars left on her body. Especially, the deep scar on her forearm from when she finds out what her boyfriend has done and realizes he is the reason for her losing all the people she cares about. She has a habit of biting her lips and fiddling with jewellery. As well as hiding behind her own hair when anxious or scared. She's scared of the dark, is claustrophobic and easily frightened. Primarily scared of death. This would all link with Maslow's theory of needs as males would see her as a weak and vulnerable character and want to protect her.
