Cinematography - Binary Opposition

Today in our lesson, we were trying out different focuses and how to use Binary Oppositions by having one person blurry and the other in focus and trying out different ways to pull focus. We used a DSLR camera EOS 550D.

We also learnt about how changing the F stop changes the distance of focus. If the F stop number is small there is a deeper focus and if the F stop if big its a shallow focus. To do a pull focus you have to have a small F stop and use the focus ring around the outside of the camera to change what is in focus.

Other ways of showing binary opposition is through body language, mis-en-scene, costume, props, and make up.
